My little baby is growing up so fast. He babbles ("ra ra ba ba da da yea yea"), blows raspberries, and laughs/snickers a lot ("kekeke") when he's being silly. He also shakes his head a lot. He has two little teeth on the bottom row of his mouth, which gives him a drooly, toothy grin. He's also starting to be more attached to mommy & daddy, and reaches out to be picked up by us, which is sweet. However, he's happiest when our nanny, Maria, comes over. He literally gasps, shakes with happiness, and jumps out of my arms into hers. I admit that I get a little sad about that, but equally happy that he adores her and is in good hands while we are at work. If it were not for her, I don't know how I would get through each day. She is great with setting a routine and ensuring he gets enough to eat, even though he hardly seems interested in food these days. He is still tentative about solids, but enjoys a few flavors (green beans, apple/banana/strawberry, banana/orange medley). He went through a short-lived phase in Florida where he would push away the bottle and scream for solids, even to the point of licking the bowl like a dog. But, now we're back a step where we have to coax or trick him into each bite. Josiah is still super curious and hardly sits still. He's always bouncing around and flipping his head around to look at the world. His hands and feet are constantly moving, yet still in a clumsy manner. It's fun watching him get a bit more coordinated with his movements, as he slap and kicks things deliberately and practices opening/closing his palms. When he rolls around on the playmat, he specifically likes to pick at the edges. He's very determined when he wants something and has quite the grip on things he does not want to let go. He is also trying to stand, but is pretty wobbly on his feet. As we help him up, he has the biggest smug, proud look on his face. Although I'm excited to witness him crawl, stand and take his first step, I'm in no rush to have a mobile child on the loose!
While Josiah is still a generally happy baby, his cranky moments are more pronounced these days too. He whines more often (when he wants to be held, wants a specific toy, wants to get out of the exersaucer), and seems to have learned the art of the fake cry to get what he wants. He also bursts into real tears more often too, usually when he has a dirty diaper or is tired. I guess I can't blame him for that!
March is going to be another busy month, but I'm hoping the spring season will give us warmer weather and new opportunities to explore the outdoors with Josiah.
